Under 16's KYL vs Dover Athletic

Match Date: 10 September 2017
Score: 0-2

Bearsted FC faced Dover Athletic FC away at Faversham for the first game of the season on a 3G pitch.

Bearsted have had a great pre-season and were fully prepared for the challenge ahead, unfortunately we had some major set backs with both George Hall and Josh Kincaid out with injuries which has left a big ask from the rest of the squad.

The game kicked off and the Bears pressed well and certainly didn’t look out of place, competing well and creating chances. They defended very well and with a strong wind hitting them direct Dover started to press higher into our half. With 25 minutes gone another key player Charlie Roberts was fouled and as a result had to be taken off with an ankle injury. This was now three players who have been a big influence on pre-season now sitting on the bench with injuries. The boys dug deep and continued to hold their own, then Dover broke along the right side and managed to get a cross into the box and some how the ball managed to find its way to the back post where they smashed it into the roof of the net at a very tight angle 0-1 Dover. Half time came and the score remained 1-0 Dover.

The second half kicked off and Bearsted remained focused and worked hard throughout, the chances got less for the Bears and Dover had fresh legs to keep bringing on which obviously made it harder for the boys. Then after 20 minutes Dover nicked another goal from a rebound after a good save from Jamie Martin to make it 0-2 Dover. The game finished at 2-0 and Bearsted had worked their socks off right up to the final whistle, this was a very good performance today considering the injuries with the right attitude and a fantastic work rate.

Man of the match was Joe Howell.
Joe has stepped up into Kent youth football and today was his first ever game at this level and he never once looked out of place.

Lots of positives taken from today, well-done lads!!!!
